Thanks for the kind words Max, and cheers for linking your piece. Just read through it and to be honest I’ve never thought about designing in a way to maximise the learnings of an algorithm but it makes complete sense!

I do worry sometimes that companies are so hyper-focused on creating a “personalised” experience that they may not think of the downsides of showing a more varied information feed. For example imagine you are far-left or far-right in the content you consume, and then the algorithm spots that and keeps showing you information which then pushes you even further in that direction. Scary stuff! Let’s hope the algorithm designers consider this.
